وَلَوْلَآ اِذْ سَمِعْتُمُوْهُ قُلْتُمْ مَّا يَكُوْنُ لَنَآ اَنْ نَّتَكَلَّمَ بِهٰذَاۖ سُبْحٰنَكَ هٰذَا بُهْتَانٌ عَظِيْمٌ ( النور: ١٦ )
And why not
وَلَوْلَآ
और क्यों ना
when
إِذْ
जब
you heard it
سَمِعْتُمُوهُ
सुना था तुमने उसे
you said
قُلْتُم
कहा तुमने
"Not
مَّا
नहीं
it is
يَكُونُ
है
for us
لَنَآ
हमारे लिए
that
أَن
कि
we speak
نَّتَكَلَّمَ
हम कलाम करें
of this
بِهَٰذَا
साथ इस( बात) के
Glory be to You!
سُبْحَٰنَكَ
पाक है तू
This
هَٰذَا
ये है
(is) a slander
بُهْتَٰنٌ
बोहतान
great?"
عَظِيمٌ
बहुत बड़ा
Walawla ith sami'tumoohu qultum ma yakoonu lana an natakallama bihatha subhanaka hatha buhtanun 'atheemun (an-Nūr 24:16)

और ऐसा क्यों न हुआ कि जब तुमने उसे सुना था तो कह देते, 'हमारे लिए उचित नहीं कि हम ऐसी बात ज़बान पर लाएँ। महान और उच्च है तू (अल्लाह)! यह तो एक बड़ी तोहमत है?'
English Sahih:
And why, when you heard it, did you not say, "It is not for us to speak of this. Exalted are You, [O Allah]; this is a great slander"? ([24] An-Nur : 16)
