Al-Ghashiyah Verse 1

Has the news of the Overwhelming Event reached you ˹O Prophet˺?

Has there come to you the story of the Overwhelming Event?

Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper?

Have you heard tell [Prophet] about the Overwhelming Event?

Hath there come Unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event?

Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)?

Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you?

HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you?

Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you!

Did you receive the account of the Enveloper?

Has the account of the Overwhelming come to you?

There has reached you the news of the overwhelming event (- the Resurrection).

Did the disaster`s/pericardium`s/Resurrection`s information/news come to you ?

Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you!

Has the story reached you, of the overwhelming?

Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection);

Faces on that day will be downcast,

Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity?

Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming?

Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)?

Have you received the news of the Enveloper?

Has there come to you the narration of Al-Ghashiyah (the overwhelming)

Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event?

Has there come to you the news of the overwhelming?

Has there -- [there has] indeed -- come to you the tiding of the Enveloper?, the Resurrection, [so called] because it `envelops' creatures with its terrors.

Allah says;

هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ




Has there come to you the narration of Al-Ghashiyah (the overwhelming),

The Day of Judgement and what will happen to the People of the Fire during it.
Al-Ghashiyah is one of the names of the Day of Judgement.

This was said by Ibn Abbas, Qatadah and Ibn Zayd.

It has been called this because it will overwhelm the people and overcome them.

Allah then says,

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَيِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ
