Al-A'raf Verse 130

Indeed, We afflicted Pharaoh’s people with famine and shortage of crops so they might come back ˹to their senses˺.

We afflicted the people of Pharaoh with famine and poor harvest, so that they may take heed.

Then seized We Pharaoh's people with years of dearth, and scarcity of fruits, that haply they might remember.

We inflicted years of drought and crop failure on Pharaoh’s people, so that they might take heed,

And assuredly We laid hold of the people of Fir'awn with lean years and lack of fruits, that haply they might dread.

We punished the people of Pharaoh with years (of droughts) and shortness of crops; that they might receive admonition.

We afflicted the people of Pharaoh with hard times and with poor harvest that they may heed.

We afflicted the people of Pharaoh with famine and dearth of everything that they might take heed.

And indeed We seized the people of Firaun with a famine of several years and with reduction of fruits, so that they may follow advice.

Certainly We afflicted Pharaoh’s clan with droughts and loss of produce, so that they may take admonition.

And We certainly seized the family (the court and military aristocracy) of the Pharaoh with years of famine and scarcity of corps, so that they might reflect and be mindful.

And We, surely, seized Pharaoh´s followers with years of drought and scarcity of fruits and children so that they might take heed.

And We had taken Pharaoh`s family with the years (drought), and reduction (deficiency) from the fruits, maybe/perhaps they mention/remember .

And indeed We seized the people of Firaun with a famine of several years and with reduction of fruits, so that they may follow advice.

We punished Pharaoh´s people with the years (of drought) and scarcity of fruit or crops), that per chance (or possibly) they might remember.

And indeed We punished the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with years of drought and shortness of fruits (crops, etc.), that they might remember (take heed).

They said: We were persecuted before thou camest to us and since thou hast come to us. He said: It may be that your Lord will destroy your enemy and make you rulers in the land, then He will see how you act.

And certainly We overtook Firon's people with droughts and diminution of fruits that they may be mindful.

And we straitened Pharaoh's folk with famine and dearth of fruits, that peradventure they might heed.

For years We afflicted Pharaoh's people with shortages in food so that perhaps they would take heed.

We seized Pharaoh's people with years of drought and scarcity of fruit so that they might remember.

And indeed We punished the people of Fir`awn with years of drought and lack of fruits (crops), that they might remember (take heed).

We afflicted Pharaoh's people with shortages of food and famine so that they might take heed,

And We afflicted the people of Pharaoh with barren years, and with shortage of crops, that they may take heed.

And verily We seized Pharaoh's folk with the years, of drought, and dearth of fruits, so that they might remember, [that they might] heed the admonition, and become believers.

Fir`awn and His People suffer Years of Drought

Allah said,

وَلَقَدْ أَخَذْنَا الَ فِرْعَونَ

And indeed We punished the people of Fir`awn,

We tested and tried them,

بِالسِّنِينَ

with years of drought,

of famine due to little produce,

وَنَقْصٍ مِّن الثَّمَرَاتِ

and lack of fruits,

According to Mujahid,

which is less severe.

Abu Ishaq narrated that Raja' bin Haywah said,

"The date tree used to produce only one date!"

لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ
