اِتَّخَذُوْٓا اَيْمَانَهُمْ جُنَّةً فَصَدُّوْا عَنْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِيْنٌ ( المجادلة: ١٦ )
ittakhadhū
ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟
They have taken
aymānahum
أَيْمَٰنَهُمْ
their oaths
junnatan
جُنَّةً
(as) a cover
faṣaddū
فَصَدُّوا۟
so they hinder
ʿan
عَن
from
sabīli
سَبِيلِ
(the) way of Allah
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(the) way of Allah
falahum
فَلَهُمْ
so for them
ʿadhābun
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
muhīnun
مُّهِينٌ
humiliating
Ittakhazooo aymaanahum junnatan fasaddoo 'an sabeelil laahi falahum 'azaabum muheen (al-Mujādilah 58:16)
Sahih International:
They took their [false] oaths as a cover, so they averted [people] from the way of Allah, and for them is a humiliating punishment. (Al-Mujadila [58] : 16)
1 Mufti Taqi Usmani
They have taken their oaths as a shield, and then have prevented (people) from the way of Allah. Therefore, for them there is a humiliating punishment.
