Al-Hadid Verse 11

Who is it that will lend to Allah a good loan which Allah will multiply ˹many times over˺ for them, and they will have an honourable reward?[[ i.e., Paradise. ]]

Who is there to lend Allah a goodly loan, so He will multiply it for him, and for him there will be a generous reward?

Who is he that will lend to God a good loan, and He will multiply it for him, and his shall be a generous wage?

Who will make God a good loan? He will double it for him and reward him generously.

Who is he that will lend Allah a goodly loan, so that He may multiply it for him, and his shall be a hire honourable?

Who is he that will Loan to Allah a beautiful loan? for (Allah) will increase it manifold to his credit, and he will have (besides) a liberal Reward.

Who is it that will give Allah a beautiful loan? A loan that Allah will repay after increasing it many times and grant him a generous reward.

Who will give a goodly loan to God which He will double for him, and be for him a splendid reward?

Who will lend a handsome loan to Allah so that He may double it for him? And for such is an honourable reward.

Who is it that will lend Allah a good loan, that He may multiply it for him and [that] there may be a noble reward for him?

Whoever lends God a goodly loan, God will increase it manifold (to his credit), and he will have an honorable, generous reward (in addition).

Who is he that will separate a handsome portion (of his possessions) to give (in the cause of) Allâh? (Let him remember) He will increase it manifold (to repay it to him many times over). Indeed, there awaits such a one a generous and honourable reward.

Who that which lends/advances God a good/beautiful loan/advance, so He doubles/multiplies it for him, and for him (is a) generous reimbursement.

Who will lend a handsome loan to Allah so that He may double it for him? And for such is an honourable reward.

Who is there that will offer to Allah a goodly loan that He may double it (or increase it many fold) for him, and he shall have an excellent reward?

Who is he that will lend to Allah a goodly loan, then (Allah) will increase it manifold to his credit (in repaying), and he will have (besides) a good reward (i.e. Paradise).

And what reason have you that you spend not in Allah’s way? And Allah’s is the inheritance of the heavens and the earth. Those of you who spent before the Victory and fought are not on a level (with others). They are greater in rank than those who spent and fought afterwards. And Allah has promised good to all. And Allah is Aware of what you do.

Who is there that will offer to Allah a good gift so He will double it for him, and he shall have an excellent reward.

Who is he that will lend unto Allah a goodly loan, that He may double it for him and his may be a rich reward?

Whoever gives a virtuous loan to God will receive double from Him in addition to an honorable reward.

Who will lend a generous loan to Allah? He will multiply it for him and he shall receive a generous wage.

Who is he that will lend Allah a handsome loan: then He will increase it manifold to his credit, and he will have a honorable reward.

Who will offer God a generous loan? He will double it for him and give him a rich reward.

Who is he who will lend God a loan of goodness, that He may double it for him, and will have a generous reward?

Who is it that will lend God, by expending his wealth in the way of God, a goodly loan, [goodly] by virtue of his expending it for God's sake, so that He may multiply it (fa-yud`ifahu, may also be read fa-yuda``ifahu) for him, from tenfold up to more than seven hundredfold --as stated in srat al-Baqara [Q. 2;261], and [so that] there may be for him, in addition to the multiplied [reward], a generous reward, coupled with satisfaction and prosperity.

مَن ذَا الَّذِي يُقْرِضُ اللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا

Who is he that will lend Allah a handsome loan?

Umar bin Al-Khattab said that this Ayah refers to spending in Allah's cause.

It was also said that it pertains to spending on children.

What is correct is that it is more general than that. So all those who spend in the cause of Allah with good intentions and a sincere heart, then they fall under the generality of this Ayah. This is why Allah the Exalted said;

مَّن ذَا الَّذِي يُقْرِضُ اللّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا فَيُضَاعِفَهُ لَهُ
Who is he that will lend Allah handsome loan;then (Allah) will increase it manifold to his credit (in repaying), and in another Ayah,
أَضْعَافًا كَثِيرَةً
(many times) (2;245),

meaning, being handsome reward and tremendous provisions;Paradise on the Day of Resurrection.

Ibn Abi Hatim recorded that Abdullah bin Masud said,

"When this Ayah,
مَّن ذَا الَّذِي يُقْرِضُ اللّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا فَيُضَاعِفَهُ لَهُ
(Who is he that will lend Allah handsome loan;then (Allah) will increase it manifold to his credit (in repaying),) was revealed, Abu Ad-Dahdah Al-Ansari said, `O Allah's Messenger! Does Allah ask us for a loan' The Prophet said,

Yes, O Abu Ad-Dahdah.

He said, `Give me your hand, O Allah's Messenger,'

and the Prophet placed his hand in his hand.

Abu Ad-Dahdah said, `Verily, I have given my garden as a loan to my Lord.'

He had a garden that contained six hundred date trees; his wife and children were living in that garden too.

Abu Ad-Dahdah went to his wife and called her, Umm Ad-Dahdah!'

She said, `Here I am.'

He said, `Leave the garden, because I have given it as a loan to my Lord, the Exalted and Most Honored.'

She said, `That is a successful trade, O Abu Ad-Dahdah!'

She then transferred her goods and children.

The Messenger of Allah said,

كَمْ مِنْ عَذْقٍ رَدَاحٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ لاَِبِي الدَّحْدَاح

How plentiful are the sweet date clusters that Abu Ad-Dahdah has in Paradise!"

In another narration, the Prophet said,

رُبَّ نَخْلَةٍ مُدَلاَّةٍ عُرُوقُهَا دُرٌّ وَيَاقُوتٌ لاَِبِي الدَّحْدَاحِ فِي الْجَنَّة

How many a date tree that has lowered down its clusters, which are full of pearls and gems in Paradise for Abu Ad-Dahdah!

وَلَهُ أَجْرٌ كَرِيمٌ



and he will have a honorable reward.
