At-Tur Verse 26

They will say, “Before ˹this reward˺ we used to be in awe ˹of Allah˺ in the midst of our people.

They will say, “Before this, we used to be in awe [of Allah] when we were living among our people.

They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear,

‘When we were still with our families [on earth] we used to live in fear––

They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread.

They will say; "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people.

They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure).

Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home.

Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.”

They will say, ‘Indeed, aforetime, we used to be apprehensive about our families.

They say: "We used to be, when amongst our families, indeed most apprehensive before (most careful and alert for the guidance and eternal life of our family members).

They will say, `Before (this) we were very much haunted by fear, in the midst of our family (about the consequences of our deeds).

They said: "We were before in our people/family afraid/compassionate ."

Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.”

Saying, "Surely in the past we feared for our families:

Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah).

And they will advance to each other, questioning --

Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families:

Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious;

saying, "We were afraid while in the world.

'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful,

Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid in the midst of our families."

"Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure --

They will say, “Before this, we were fearful for our families.

They say, as an intimation of the reason for this attainment; `Truly, before, amid our families, in the world, we used to be ever anxious, afraid of God's chastisement;

Saying;"Aforetime, we were afraid in the midst of our families."

meaning, `in the life of world and in the midst of our families, we were afraid of our Lord and fearful of His torment and punishment,'

فَمَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَانَا عَذَابَ السَّمُومِ
