Al-Ahqaf Verse 30

They declared, “O our fellow jinn! We have truly heard a scripture revealed after Moses, confirming what came before it. It guides to the truth and the Straight Way.

They said, “O our people, we have heard a scripture that has been sent down after Moses, confirming what came before it; it guides to the truth and to a straight path.

They said, 'Our people, we have heard a Book that was sent down after Moses, confirming what was before it, guiding to the truth and to a straight path.

They said, ‘Our people, we have been listening to a Scripture that came after Moses, confirming previous scriptures, giving guidance to the truth and the straight path.

They said: O our people! verily we have hearkened Unto a Book sent down after Musa, confirming that which was before it, guiding Unto the truth and a straight path.

They said, "O our people! We have heard a Book revealed after Moses, confirming what came before it; it guides (men) to the Truth and to a Straight Path.

They said: “Our people, We have heard a Scripture revealed after Moses, verifying the Scriptures revealed before it; it guides to the Truth and to the Straight Way.

"O our people:" they said: "we have listened to a Book which has come down after Moses, confirming what was (sent down) before it, showing the way to the truth and a path that is straight.

They said, “O our people! We have indeed heard a Book, sent down after Moosa, which confirms the Books preceding it, and guides towards the Truth and the Straight Path.”

They said, ‘O our people! Indeed, we have heard a Book, which has been sent down after Moses, confirming what was before it. It guides to the truth and to a straight path.

They said: "O our people! We have listened to a Book which has been sent after Moses, confirming (the Divine origin of and the truths that are still contained by) the Revelations prior to it: It guides towards the truth and towards a straight road (in all matters).

They (having gone there) said, `O our people! we have listened to a Book which has been revealed after (the time of) Moses confirming that (divine Scripture) which is before it. It guides to the truth and to the right and straight path.

They said: "You our nation that we heard/listened to a Book (that) was descended from after Moses, confirming to what (is) between his hands, it guides to the truth and to (a) straight/direct road/path ."

They said, “O our people! We have indeed heard a Book, sent down after Moosa, which confirms the Books preceding it, and guides towards the Truth and the Straight Path.”

They said, "O our people! We have listened to a Book revealed after Moses verifying that which is before it, guiding to the truth and to a Straight Way:

They said: "O our people! Verily! We have heard a Book (this Quran) sent down after Musa (Moses), confirming what came before it, it guides to the truth and to a Straight Path (i.e. Islam).

And when We turned towards thee a party of the jinn, who listened to the Qur’an; so when they were in its presence, they said: Be silent. Then when it was finished, they turned back to their people warning (them).

They said: O our people! we have listened to a Book revealed after Musa verifying that which is before it, guiding to the truth and to a right path:

They said: O our people! Lo! we have heard a scripture which hath been revealed after Moses, confirming that which was before it, guiding unto the truth and a right road.

and said, "Our people, we have listened to the recitation of a Book revealed after Moses. It confirms the Books revealed before and guides to the Truth and the right path.

'Our nation' they said: 'we have just been listening to a Book sent down after Moses confirming what came before it and guiding to the truth and to aStraight Path.

They said: "O our people! Verily, we have heard a Book sent down after Musa, confirming what came before it, it guides to the truth and to the straight path."

They said, "O our people, we have heard a Book, which has been sent down after Moses, fulfilling the predictions existing in previous scriptures; it guides to the truth, and to the right path.

They said, “O our people, we have heard a Scripture, sent down after Moses, confirming what came before it. It guides to the truth, and to a straight path.

They said, `O our people! Indeed we have heard a Book, namely, the Qur'n, which has been revealed after Moses, confirming what was before it, what preceded it, such as the Torah. It guides to the truth, submission [to God] (islm), and to a straight way, that is, the way thereto [to Islam].

قَالُوا يَا قَوْمَنَا إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا كِتَابًا أُنزِلَ مِن بَعْدِ مُوسَى

They said;"O our people! Verily, we have heard a Book sent down after Musa..."

They did not mention `Isa, peace be upon him, because the Injil that was revealed to him contained admonitions and exhortations, but very few permissions or prohibitions. Thus, it was in reality like a complement to the legislation of the Tawrah, the Tawrah being the reference. That is why they said, "Sent down after Musa."

This is also the way that Waraqah bin Nawfal spoke when the Prophet told him about his first meeting with Jibril, An-Namus, peace be upon him. He said;"Very good, very good! This is (the angel) that used to come to Musa. I wish that I was still a young man (to support you)."

مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ

confirming what came before it,

meaning, the Scriptures that were revealed before it to the previous Prophets.

They then said,

يَهْدِي إِلَى الْحَقِّ

it guides to the truth, (means in belief and information).

وَإِلَى طَرِيقٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ



and to the straight path. (which means, in deeds).

For verily, the Qur'an contains two things;

- information and

- commandments.

Its information is true, and its commandments are all just, as Allah says,

وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَةُ رَبِّكَ صِدْقاً وَعَدْلاً

And the Word of Your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice. (6;115)

Allah says,

هُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ بِالْهُدَى وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ

It is He Who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the religion of truth. (9;122)

The guidance is the beneficent knowledge, and the religion of truth means the righteous good deeds.

Thus, the Jinns said,
يَهْدِي إِلَى الْحَقِّ
(it guides to the truth) in matters of belief,
وَإِلَى طَرِيقٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
(and to the straight path.) meaning, in regard to actions
