Ya-Sin Verse 30

Oh pity, such beings! No messenger ever came to them without being mocked.

Alas for the humans! No messenger ever comes to them but they ridicule him.

Ah, woe for those servants! Never comes unto them a Messenger, but they mock at him.

Alas for human beings! Whenever a messenger comes to them they ridicule him.

Ah the misery of the bondmen! there cometh not: Unto them an apostle but him they have been mocking.

Ah! Alas for (My) Servants! There comes not a messenger to them but they mock him!

Alas for My servants! Never does a Messenger come to them but they mock him.

Alas for men! No apostle ever came to them but they made fun of him.

And it was said, “Woe to those bondmen – whenever a Noble Messenger comes to them, they mock at him!”

How regrettable of the servants! There did not come to them any apostle but that they used to deride him.

Ah! Alas for the servants (of God who fail to serve Him)! Every time there has come to them a Messenger, they have but mocked him.

Alas for (My) servants! not a single Messenger comes to (reform) them but they treat him lightly.

Oh grief/sorrow on the slaves/servants , none from a messenger comes to them, except (that) they were with him mocking/making fun.

And it was said, “Woe to those bondmen - whenever a Noble Messenger comes to them, they mock at him!”

It was naught but a single Shout, and lo! They were still and silenced (extinct).

Alas for mankind! There never came a Messenger to them but they used to mock at him.

It was naught but a single cry, and lo! they were still.

Alas for the servants! there comes not to them an apostle but they mock at him.

Ah, the anguish for the bondmen! Never came there unto them a messenger but they did mock him!

Woe to human beings! Whenever a Messenger came to them, they mocked him.

Woe, for those (unbelieving) worshipers! They mocked every Messenger that came to them.

Alas for mankind! There never came a Messenger to them but they used to mock at him.

Alas for human beings! They ridicule every messenger that comes to them.

Alas for the servants. No messenger ever came to them, but they ridiculed him.

Ah, the anguish for servants, [such as] these and their like from among those who denied the messengers and were destroyed (this [word, hasra] denotes `extreme agony'; the vocative here is being used metaphorically, in other words, `It is time for you [O anguish], so come now!'). Never did a messenger come to them but that they mocked him (this [statement] is given as an explanation of the cause thereof [of the `agony'] since it [the statement] entails their mockery which itself results in their being destroyed and which in turn is the cause of the `anguish').

Woe to the Disbelievers!

Ali bin Abi Talhah reported that Ibn Abbas commented on the Ayah;

يَا حَسْرَةً عَلَى الْعِبَادِ

Alas for mankind!,

this means, woe to mankind!

Qatadah said;
يَا حَسْرَةً عَلَى الْعِبَادِ
(Alas for mankind!) means,

"Alas for mankind, who have neglected the command of Allah."

The meaning is that they will feel regret and sorrow on the Day of Resurrection. When they see the punishment with their own eyes; they will regret how they disbelieved the Messengers of Allah and went against the commands of Allah, for they used to disbelieve in them in this world.

مَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلاَّ كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِوُون

There never came a Messenger to them but they used to mock at him.

means, they disbelieved him and made fun of him, and rejected the message of truth with which he had been sent.

Then Allah says;

أَلَمْ يَرَوْا كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّنْ الْقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لَا يَرْجِعُون
