Ali 'Imran Verse 130

O believers! Do not consume interest, multiplying it many times over. And be mindful of Allah, so you may prosper.

O you who believe, do not consume usury, doubled and multiplied. And fear Allah, so that you may succeed,

O believers, devour not usury, doubled and redoubled, and fear you God; haply so you will prosper.

You who believe, do not consume usurious interest, doubled and redoubled. Be mindful of God so that you may prosper-

O Ye who believe! devour not multiplied manifold; and fear usury, Allah, haply ye may fare well.

O ye who believe! Devour not usury, doubled and multiplied; but fear Allah; that ye may (really) prosper.

Believers! Do not swallow interest, doubled and redoubled, and be mindful of Allah so that you may attain true success.

O you who believe, do not practice usury, charging doubled and redoubled (interest); but have fear of God: you may well attain your goal.

O People who Believe! Do not devour usury doubling and quadrupling it; and fear Allah, hoping that you achieve success.

O you who have faith! Do not exact usury, twofold and severalfold, and be wary of Allah so that you may be felicitous.

O you who believe! Do not consume usury, doubled and redoubled; and act in piety, keeping from disobedience to Him, so that you may prosper (in both worlds).

O you who believe! do not practise usury and interest involving multiple additions, and keep your duty to Allâh and take Him as a shield so that you may prosper.

You, you those who believed, do not eat, the growth/increase/interest doubles doubled , and fear and obey God, maybe/perhaps you succeed/win.

O People who Believe! Do not devour usury doubling and quadrupling it; and fear Allah, hoping that you achieve success.

Avoid the fire which is prepared for the faithless,

O you who believe! Eat not Riba (usury) doubled and multiplied, but fear Allah that you may be successful.

And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. He forgives whom He pleases and chastises whom He pleases. And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

O you who believe! do not devour usury, making it double and redouble, and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, that you may be successful.

O ye who believe! Devour not usury, doubling and quadrupling (the sum lent). Observe your duty to Allah, that ye may be successful.

Believers, do not accept illegal interest in order to increase your wealth many times over. Have fear of God so that you will have everlasting happiness.

Believers, do not consume usury, doubled and redoubled, and fear Allah, in order that you shall prosper.

O you who believe! Do not consume Riba doubled and multiplied, but fear Allah that you may be successful.

Believers, do not devour usury multiplied many times over. Fear God, so that you may prosper,

O you who believe! Do not feed on usury, compounded over and over, and fear God, so that you may prosper.

O you who believe, do not exact usury, twofold and severalfold (read mud`afatan or mud`afatan) by increasing the amount [to be repaid] when the [loan] period comes to an end and delaying the request [of the loan]. And fear God, by abandoning such [usury], so that you may prosper, [that] you may triumph.

Interest (Riba) is Prohibited

Allah says,

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ امَنُواْ لَا تَأْكُلُواْ الرِّبَا أَضْعَافًا مُّضَاعَفَةً

O you who believe! Do not consume Riba doubled and multiplied,

Allah prohibits His believing servants from dealing in Riba and from requiring interest on their capital, just as they used to do during the time of Jahiliyyah.

For instance, when the time to pay a loan comes, the creditor would say to the debtor, "Either pay now, or the loan will incur interest." If the debtor asks for deferment of the loan, the creditor would require interest and this would occur year after year until the little capital becomes multiplied many times.

وَاتَّقُواْ اللّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ



but fear Allah that you may be successful.

Allah commands His servants to have Taqwa of Him so that they may achieve success in this life and the Hereafter.

Allah also threatens them with the Fire and warns them against it, saying,

وَاتَّقُواْ النَّارَ الَّتِي أُعِدَّتْ لِلْكَافِرِينَ
