Ali 'Imran Verse 100

O believers! If you were to yield to a group of those who were given the Scripture, they would turn you back from belief to disbelief.

O you who believe, if you obey a group of those who were given the Scripture, they will turn you back as disbelievers after your belief.

O believers, if you obey a sect of those who have been given the Book, they will turn you, after you have believed, into unbelievers.

You who believe, some of those who were given the Scripture would turn you into disbelievers if you were to yield to them.

O Ye who believe! were ye to obey any party amongst those that have been vouchsafed the Book, they would, after your having believed, render you Infidels.

O ye who believe! If ye listen to a faction among the People of the Book, they would (indeed) render you apostates after ye have believed!

Believers! Were you to obey a party of those who were given the Book, they might cause you to renounce the Truth after you have attained to faith.

O believers, if you follow what some of the people of the Book say, it will turn you into unbelievers even after you have come to belief.

O People who Believe! If you obey some of People given the Book(s), they will definitely turn you into disbelievers after your having accepted faith.

O you who have faith, if you obey a part of those who were given the Book, they will turn you back, after your faith, into faithless ones.

O you who believe! Were you to obey a party of those who were given the Book, they would turn you, after your faith, into unbelievers.

O you who believe! If you obey a section of those who have been given the Scripture, they will turn you back into disbelievers after your having believed.

You (those) who believed, if you obey a group from those who were given The Book , they return you after your believing (to) disbelieving.

O People who Believe! If you obey some of People given the Book(s), they will definitely turn you into disbelievers after your having accepted faith.

How can you disbelieve while unto you are recited the revelations of Allah, and among you is His Messenger? But whoever takes tight hold on Allah, he is guided into the Straight Way.

O you who believe! If you obey a group of those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians), they would (indeed) render you disbelievers after you have believed!

Say: O People of the Book, why do you hinder those who believe from the way of Allah, seeking (to make) it crooked, while you are witnesses? And Allah is not heedless of what you do.

O you who believe! if you obey a party from among those who have been given the Book, they will turn you back as unbelievers after you have believed.

O ye who believe! If ye obey a party of those who have received the Scripture they will make you disbelievers after your belief.

Believers, if you obey a certain group among the People of the Book, they will turn you back to disbelief.

Believers, if you obey a sect of those who were given the Book, they will turn you into unbelievers after you have believed.

O you who believe! If you obey a group of those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians), they would (indeed) render you disbelievers after you have believed!

O believers, if you yield to some of those who were given the Scripture, they will cause you to renounce the truth after you have believed.

O you who believe! If you obey a party of those who were given the Scripture, they will turn you, after your belief, into disbelievers.

The following was revealed when the Jews passed by the Aws and the Khazraj and were infuriated by their comradeship, and set about reminding them of their mutual hostility in the days before Islam, such that they caused them to quarrel and the two [tribes] were on the verge of fighting one another; O you who believe, if you obey a party of those who have been given the Scripture, they will turn you, after you have believed, into disbelievers.

Warning Muslims Against Imitating People of the Scriptures

Allah warns;

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ امَنُوَاْ إِن تُطِيعُواْ فَرِيقًا مِّنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ الْكِتَابَ يَرُدُّوكُم بَعْدَ إِيمَانِكُمْ كَافِرِينَ



O you who believe! If you obey a group of those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians), they would (indeed) render you disbelievers after you have believed!

Allah warns His believing servants against obeying the People of the Book, who envy the believers for the favor that Allah gave them by sending His Messenger.

Similarly, Allah said,

وَدَّ كَثِيرٌ مِّنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَـبِ لَوْ يَرُدُّونَكُم مِن بَعْدِ إِيمَـنِكُمْ كُفَّارًا حَسَدًا مِّنْ عِنْدِ أَنْفُسِهِمْ

Many of the People of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) wish that they could turn you away as disbelievers after you have believed, out of their own envy. (2;109)

In this Ayah (3;100) Allah said,
إِن تُطِيعُواْ فَرِيقًا مِّنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ الْكِتَابَ يَرُدُّوكُم بَعْدَ إِيمَانِكُمْ كَافِرِينَ
(If you obey a group of those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians), they would (indeed) render you disbelievers after you have believed!),

then said
