Ash-Shu'ara Verse 136

They responded, “It is all the same to us whether you warn ˹us˺ or not.

They said, “It is the same to us whether you admonish us or not.

They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers;

They replied, ‘It makes no difference to us whether you warn us or not,

They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers.

They said; "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers!

They replied: "It is all the same for us whether you admonish us or not.

They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn.

They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.”

They said, ‘It is the same to us whether you exhort us or not.

They responded: "It is all the same to us whether you preach or are not of those who preach.

They said, `It makes no difference with us whether you admonish us or be not of the admonishers.

They said: "(It is) equal/alike on (to) us, had you preached/advised , or you did not be from the preachers/advisers ."

They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.”

Verily, I fear for you the retribution of an awful day!"

They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach.

And gardens and fountains.

They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers

They said: It is all one to us whether thou preachest or art not of those who preach;

They said, "Whether you preach to us or not,

They replied: 'It is the same to us whether you admonish or whether you are not one of the admonishers.

They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach."

They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach,

They said, “It is the same for us, whether you lecture us, or do not lecture.

They said, `It is the same to us whether you admonish [us] or are not one of those who admonish, anyway. In other words, we will not heed your admonition.

The Response of the People of Hud, and Their Punishment

Allah tells us how the people of Hud responded to him after he had warned them, encouraged them, and clearly explained the truth to them.

قَالُوا سَوَاء عَلَيْنَا أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُن مِّنَ الْوَاعِظِينَ



They said;"It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach."

meaning, `we will not give up our ways.'

وَمَا نَحْنُ بِتَارِكِى ءالِهَتِنَا عَن قَوْلِكَ وَمَا نَحْنُ لَكَ بِمُوْمِنِينَ

And we shall not leave our gods for your (mere) saying! And we are not believers in you. (11;53)

This is how it was, as Allah says;

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَأَنذَرْتَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تُنذِرْهُمْ لَا يُوْمِنُونَ


Verily, those who disbelieve, it is the same to them whether you warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe (2;6)

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ حَقَّتْ عَلَيْهِمْ كَلِمَةُ رَبِّكَ لَا يُوْمِنُونَ

Truly, those, against whom the Word of your Lord has been justified, will not believe. (10;96-97)

And they said;

إِنْ هَذَا إِلاَّ خُلُقُ الاَْوَّلِينَ
