اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلٰى رَبِّكَ كَيْفَ مَدَّ الظِّلَّۚ وَلَوْ شَاۤءَ لَجَعَلَهٗ سَاكِنًاۚ ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا الشَّمْسَ عَلَيْهِ دَلِيْلًا ۙ  ( الفرقان: ٤٥ )

surely He (could) have made it

ثُمَّ
Then
jaʿalnā
جَعَلْنَا
We made
l-shamsa
ٱلشَّمْسَ
the sun
ʿalayhi
عَلَيْهِ
for it
dalīlan
دَلِيلًا
an indication

Alam tara ilaa Rabbika kaifa maddaz zilla wa law shaaa'a laja'alahoo saakinan summa ja'alnash shamsa 'alaihe daleelaa (al-Furq̈ān 25:45)

Sahih International:

Have you not considered your Lord – how He extends the shadow, and if He willed, He could have made it stationary? Then We made the sun for it an indication. (Al-Furqan [25] : 45)

1 Mufti Taqi Usmani

Have you not observed how your Lord stretched out the shadow (of the sun)? If He so willed, He would have made it stand still. Then We made the sun an indicator for it.
