Al-Mu'minun Verse 115

Did you then think that We had created you without purpose, and that you would never be returned to Us?”

Did you think that We created you with no purpose, and that you would not be brought back to Us?”

What, did you think that We created you only for sport, and that you would not be returned to Us?'

Did you think We had created you in vain, and that you would not be brought back to Us?’

Deem ye that We have created youl in vain and that unto Us ye are not to be returned?

"Did ye then think that We had created you in jest, and that ye would not be brought back to Us (for account)?"

Did you imagine that We created you without any purpose, and that you will not be brought back to Us?"

Do you think We created you for nothing, and that you will not return to Us?"

So do you think that We have created you needlessly, and that you do not have to return to Us?

Did you suppose that We created you aimlessly, and that you will not be brought back to Us?’

"Or did you think that We created you in vain, and that you should devote all your time to play and entertainment, and that you would not be brought back to Us?"

`Did you then think that We had created you without purpose and that you would not be brought back to Us?´

Did you think/suppose , that We created you playfully and mockingly , and that you are not being returned to Us?

So do you think that We have created you needlessly, and that you do not have to return to Us?

He will say, "You have only tarried a little, if you but knew.

"Did you think that We had created you in play (without any purpose), and that you would not be brought back to Us?"

He will say: You tarried but a little -- if you only knew!

What! did you then think that We had created you in vain and that you shall not be returned to Us?

Deemed ye then that We had created you for naught, and that ye would not be returned unto Us?

Did you think that We had created you for a playful purpose and that you were not to return to Us?"

Did you think that We had created you only for play, and that you would never be returned to Us'

"Did you think that We had created you in play, and that you would not be brought back to Us"

"Do you imagine that We created you without any purpose and that you would not be brought back to Us?"

Did you think that We created you in vain, and that to Us you will not be returned?”

Did you suppose that We created you aimlessly, and not for an underlying reason, and that you would not be returned to Us?' (read active tarji`na, `you [would not] return', or passive turja`na, `you [would not] be returned') Nay! But [it was] so that We might enthral you with commands and prohibitions, where after you would be returned to Us for Us to requite [you] accordingly; And I did not create the jinn and mankind except that they may worship Me [Q. 51;56].

أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ عَبَثًا

Did you think that We had created you in play,

means, `did you think that you were created in vain, with no purpose, with nothing required of you and no wisdom on Our part!'

Or it was said that "in play" meant to play and amuse yourselves, like the animals were created, who have no reward or punishment. But you were created to worship Allah and carry out His commands.

وَأَنَّكُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَاأ تُرْجَعُونَ



and that you would not be brought back to Us!

means, that you would not be brought back to the Hereafter.

This is like the Ayah;

أَيَحْسَبُ الاِنسَـنُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى

Does man think that he will be left neglected! (75;36
