Al-Hajj Verse 67

For every community We appointed a code[[ All prophets came with the same message: have faith in one God and do good. But each faith-community had their own law. ]] of life to follow.[[ The Muslim code of life is called Sharî’ah, which means a “path.” For more information, see the Introduction.]] So do not let them dispute with you ˹O Prophet˺ in this matter. And invite ˹all˺ to your Lord, for you are truly on the Right Guidance.

For every community We ordained ways of worship which they follow, so do not let them dispute with you [O Prophet] in this matter. But call them to your Lord, for you are indeed on the straight guidance.

We have appointed for every nation a holy rite that they shall perform. Let them not therefore wrangle with thee upon the matter, and do thou summon unto thy Lord; surely thou art upon a straight guidance.

We have appointed acts of devotion for every community to observe, so do not let them argue with you [Prophet] about this matter. Call them to your Lord- you are on the right path-

Unto every community We have appointed a rite which they perform. Let them not therefore contend with thee in the affair; and call them thou unto thy Lord, verily thou art on true guidance.

To every People have We appointed rites and ceremonies which they must follow; let them not then dispute with thee on the matter, but do thou invite (them) to thy Lord; for thou art assuredly on the Right Way.

For every people We have prescribed a way of worship which they follow. So, (O Muhammad), let them not dispute with you concerning this, and call them to Your Lord. You are certainly on the Straight Way.

We have determined for each community a way of worship which they follow. So they should not contend with you in this matter; and you should go on calling them to your Lord. You are surely on the right path.

For each nation We have made the rules of worship for them to follow – so never should they quarrel with you in this matter – and call them towards your Lord; indeed you are upon the Straight Path.

For every nation We have appointed rites [of worship] which they observe; so let them not dispute with you concerning your religion, and invite to your Lord. Indeed, you are on a straight guidance.

For every community We have appointed a whole system of worship which they are to observe. So do not let those (who follow their own systems) draw you into disputes concerning this matter, but continue to call people to your Lord. You are most certainly on the straight way leading to pure guidance.

We have prescribed for every people modes of worship which they should observe. Let them not, therefore, dispute with you in the matter (of Islamic mode of worship). And call (the people) to your Lord for you are indeed on the exact and right guidance.

To every/each nation We made/created a ritual or method of worship they are practicing the rituals or methods of worship , so they do not dispute/quarrel with you (E) in the matter/affair, and call to your Lord, that you are on (E) straight/direct guidance.

For each nation We have made the rules of worship for them to follow - so never should they quarrel with you in this matter – and call them towards your Lord; indeed you are upon the Straight Path.

He it is who quickens you, then makes you die, then will He quicken you again; verily, man is indeed ungrateful.

For every nation We have ordained religious ceremonies [e.g. slaughtering of the beast of cattle during the three days of stay at Mina (Makkah) during the Hajj (pilgrimage)] which they must follow; so let them (pagans) not dispute with you on the matter (i.e. to eat of the cattle which you slaughter, and not to eat of cattle which Allah kills by its natural death), but invite them to your Lord. Verily! You (O Muhammad SAW) indeed are on the (true) straight guidance. (i.e. the true religion of Islamic Monotheism).

And He it is Who brings you to life, then He causes you to die, then He brings you to life. Surely man is ungrateful.

To every nation We appointed acts of devotion which they observe, therefore they should not dispute with you about the matter and call to your Lord; most surely you are on a right way.

Unto each nation have We given sacred rites which they are to perform; so let them not dispute with thee of the matter, but summon thou unto thy Lord. Lo! thou indeed followest right guidance.

We enjoined every nation with certain worship acts which they perform. The unbelievers must not dispute with you about the manner of your worship. Invite them to follow the right path of the Lord.

For every nation We have appointed a Holy Rite which they shall perform. Do not let them dispute with you concerning the matter. Call to your Lord; surely, you are upon a Straight Path.

For every nation We have made Mansak which they must follow; so let them not dispute with you on the matter, but invite them to your Lord. Verily, you indeed are on the straight guidance.

We have appointed for every community ways of worship to observe. Let them not dispute with you on this matter. Call them to the path of your Lord -- for surely, you are rightly guided --

For every congregation We have appointed acts of devotion, which they observe. So do not let them dispute with you in this matter. And invite to your Lord; you are upon a straight guidance.

For every community We have appointed a [holy] rite (read mansakan or mansikan) a [Holy] Law, which they are to observe, which they are to implement. So do not let them dispute with you, the intended meaning is `do not dispute with them', about the matter, namely, the matter of the slaughter animal, when they said, `What God has killed is worthier for you to eat than what you killed'; but summon [people] to your Lord, [to] His religion. Indeed you follow a straight guidance, [a straight] religion.

Every Nation has its Religious Ceremonies

Allah tells;

لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ جَعَلْنَا مَنسَكًا هُمْ نَاسِكُوهُ فَلَ يُنَازِعُنَّكَ فِي الاَْمْرِ

For every nation We have made Mansak which they must follow; so let them not dispute with you on the matter,

Allah tells us that He has made Mansak for every nation.

Ibn Jarir said,

"This means that there are Mansak for every Prophet's nation."

He said,

"The origin of the word Mansik in Arabic means the place to which a person returns repeatedly, for good or evil purposes. So the Manasik (rites) of Hajj are so called because the people return to them and adhere to them."

If the phrase "For every nation We have ordained religious ceremonies" means that every Prophet's nation has its religious ceremonies as ordained by Allah, then the phrase "So let them (the pagans) not dispute with you on the matter" refers to the idolators.

If the phrase "For every nation We have ordained religious ceremonies" means that it is the matter of Qadar (divine decree), as in the Ayah,
وَلِكُلٍّ وِجْهَةٌ هُوَ مُوَلِّيهَا
(For each nation there is a direction to which they face). (2;148)
Allah says here;
هُمْ نَاسِكُوهُ
(which they Nasikuh) meaning, which they must act upon. The pronoun here refers back to those who have these religious ceremonies and ways, i.e., they do this by the will and decree of Allah, so do not let their dispute with you over that divert you from following the truth.

Allah says;

وَادْعُ إِلَى رَبِّكَ إِنَّكَ لَعَلَى هُدًى مُّسْتَقِيمٍ



but invite them to your Lord. Verily, you indeed are on the straight guidance.

i.e., a clear and straight path which will lead you to the desired end.

This is like the Ayah;

وَلَا يَصُدُّنَّكَ عَنْ ءَايَـتِ اللَّهِ بَعْدَ إِذْ أُنزِلَتْ إِلَيْكَ وَادْعُ إِلَى رَبِّكَ

And let them not turn you away from the Ayat of Allah after they have been sent down to you;and invite to your Lord. (28;87)

وَإِن جَادَلُوكَ فَقُلِ اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
