Maryam Verse 45

O  dear father! I truly fear that you will be touched by a torment from the Most Compassionate, and become Satan’s companion ˹in Hell˺.”

O my dear father, I truly fear that a punishment from the Most Compassionate may afflict you and that you may become a companion of Satan [in Hell].”

Father, I fear that some chastisement from the All-merciful will smite thee, so that thou becomest a friend to Satan.

Father, I fear that a punishment from the Lord of Mercy may afflict you and that you may become Satan’s companion [in Hell].’

O My father! verily I fear that there may touch thee a torment from the Compassionate so that thou become to the Satan a companin.

"O my father! I fear lest a Penalty afflict thee from (Allah) Most Gracious, so that thou become to Satan a friend."

Father, I fear that a punishment from the Most Compassionate Lord might strike you and you may end up as one of Satan's companions?"

O my father, I fear lest a punishment from Ar-Rahman should befall you, and you should become a friend of the Devil."

“O my father, I fear that a punishment from the Most Gracious may reach you, so you would become a companion of the devil.”

Father! I am indeed afraid that a punishment from the All-beneficent will befall you, and you will become Satan’s accomplice.’

"O my father! I am fearful lest a punishment from the All-Merciful befall you, and then you will become a close friend of Satan (and an instrument in his hand)."

`My dear sire, if you went on serving satan, I fear lest some punishment from the Most Gracious (God) should seize you so that you should become an associate of satan.´

You my father, that I fear that torture touches you from the merciful, so you be to the devil an ally/follower .

"O my father, I fear that a punishment from the Most Gracious may reach you, so you would become a companion of the devil."

"O my Sire! Serve not Satan; verily, Satan is ever a rebel against the Beneficent One.

"O my father! Verily! I fear lest a torment from the Most Beneficent (Allah) overtake you, so that you become a companion of Shaitan (Satan) (in the Hell-fire)." [Tafsir Al-Qurtubi]

O my sire, serve not the devil. Surely the devil is disobedient to the Beneficent.

O my father! surely I fear that a punishment from the Beneficent Allah should afflict you so that you should be a friend of the Shaitan.

O my father! Lo! I fear lest a punishment from the Beneficent overtake thee so that thou become a comrade of the devil.

Father, I am afraid that the Beneficent God's torment will strike you and you will become a friend of satan."

Father, I fear that the punishment of the Merciful will fall upon you and you will become a guide of satan'

"O my father! Verily, I fear lest a torment from the Most Gracious should overtake you, so that you become a companion of Shaytan."

Father, indeed I fear lest a punishment from the Gracious One afflict you, and you become a friend of Satan."

O my father, I fear that a punishment from the Most Gracious will afflict you, and you become an ally of the devil.”

O my father! I do fear lest a chastisement from the Compassionate One should befall you, if you do not repent, and then you become an ally of Satan, an assistant and a comrade [of his] in the Fire.

يَا أَبَتِ إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَن يَمَسَّكَ عَذَابٌ مِّنَ الرَّحْمَن

O my father! Verily, I fear lest a torment from the Most Gracious should overtake you,

"because of your associating partners with Allah and your disobedience in what I am commanding you with."

فَتَكُونَ لِلشَّيْطَانِ وَلِيًّا



so that you become a companion of Shaytan.

This means, "there will be no one who will protect you, or help you, or assist you, except Iblis. However, neither he, nor anyone else, has any power over the outcome of matters. Following him will only cause you to be surrounded by the torment (of Allah)."

This is as Allah says,

تَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَأ إِلَى أُمَمٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَـِّنُ أَعْمَالَهُمْ فَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُمُ الْيَوْمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

By Allah, We indeed sent (Messengers) to the nations before you, but Shaytan made their deeds fair seeming to them. So he is their helper today (in this world), and theirs will be a painful torment. (16;63
