Yusuf Verse 82

Ask ˹the people of˺ the land where we were and the caravan we travelled with. We are certainly telling the truth.’”

Ask [the people of] the town where we were and the caravan we came with, and we are surely telling the truth.”

Enquire of the city wherein we were, and the caravan in which we approached; surely we are truthful men".'

Ask in the town where we have been; ask the people of the caravan we travelled with: we are telling the truth.”’

And inquire those of the city where we have been and of the caravan with whom we have travelled hither; and verily we are truth- tellers.

"'Ask at the town where we have been and the caravan in which we returned, and (you will find) we are indeed telling the truth.'"

You may inquire of the dwellers of the city where we were, and of the people of the caravan with whom we travelled. We are altogether truthful in what we say."

Enquire from the people of that city, or ask the men of the caravan with whom we have come. We are verily speaking the truth.'"

‘And ask the township in which we were, and the caravan in which we came; and indeed we are truthful.’”

Ask [the people of] the town we were in, and the caravan with which we came. We indeed speak the truth.’’ ’

‘Inquire in the township where we were, and the caravan with whom we traveled hither. We are certainly telling the truth.’ "

"And you may inquire of (the inhabitants of) the city we were in, and of (the people of) the caravan carrying the corn we accompanied. We speak nothing but the truth".´

`And ask/question the village/urban city which we were in it, and the caravan which we came in it, and we are, truthful (E).`

‘And ask the township in which we were, and the caravan in which we came; and indeed we are truthful.’ "

"Return you to your father and say, ´O our father! Verily, your son has committed theft, and we bore testimony to naught but what we knew. We could not guard against the unseen (the unforeseen, the unknown or the hidden)"

"And ask (the people of) the town where we have been, and the caravan in which we returned, and indeed we are telling the truth."

Go back to your father and say: O our father, thy son committed theft. And we bear witness only what we know, and we could not keep watch over the unseen.

And inquire in the town in which we were and the caravan with which we proceeded, and most surely we are truthful.

Ask the township where we were, and the caravan with which we travelled hither. Lo! we speak the truth.

You can ask the people of the town where we were and the caravan we met there. We are certainly telling the truth."

Ask the village where we were and the caravan in which we traveled, we speak the truth'

"And ask (the people of) the town where we have been, and the caravan in which we returned; and indeed we are telling the truth."

Inquire of [the people of] the city where we lodged, and of the caravan with which we travelled. We are telling you the truth.'"

“Ask the town where we were, and the caravan in which we came. We are being truthful.”

And ask the city in which we were -- namely Egypt -- in other words, send forth [someone] to ask its people, and the caravan, the men of the caravan, with which we approached -- and these were a group of Canaanites. Surely we speak the truth" ', in what we say. So they went back to him and told him as much.

وَاسْأَلِ الْقَرْيَةَ الَّتِي كُنَّا فِيهَا

And ask (the people of) the town where we have been,

in reference to Egypt, according to Qatadah, or another town.

وَالْعِيْرَ الَّتِي أَقْبَلْنَا فِيهَا

and the caravan in which we returned,

`about our truthfulness, honesty, protection and sincere guardianship,

وَإِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ



and indeed we are telling the truth.

in what we have told you, that Binyamin stole and was taken as a captive as compensation for his theft.'
