Yusuf Verse 102

That is from the stories of the unseen which We reveal to you ˹O Prophet˺. You were not present when they ˹all˺[[ This includes Joseph’s brothers, the travellers who picked him up from the well and sold him into slavery, and the Chief Minister’s wife and other women in the city.]] made up their minds, and when they plotted ˹against Joseph˺.

That is from the stories of the unseen which We reveal to you [O Prophet]; you were not with them when they agreed upon their plan as they were plotting.

That is of the tidings of the Unseen that We reveal to thee; thou wast not with them when they agreed upon their plan, devising.

This account is part of what was beyond your knowledge [Muhammad]. We revealed it to you: you were not present with Joseph’s brothers when they made their treacherous plans.

This is of the tidings of the unseen, which We reveal unto thee; nor wast thou with them when they resolved on their affair while they were plotting.

Such is one of the stories of what happened unseen, which We reveal by inspiration unto thee; nor wast thou (present) with them then when they concerted their plans together in the process of weaving their plots.

(O Muhammad), this is part of news from the Unseen that We reveal to you for you were not present with them when Joseph's brothers jointly resolved on a plot.

This is news of the unknown We reveal to you, for you were not present when Joseph's brothers agreed on their course of action, and devised their plot.

These are some tidings of the Hidden which We divinely reveal to you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him); and you were not with them when they set their task and when they were scheming.

These are accounts from the Unseen, which We reveal to you, and you were not with them when they conspired together and schemed.

That is an account of some exemplary events of the unseen (a realm and time beyond the reach of any created being’s perception) that We reveal to you, (O Messenger). You were not with them when those agreed upon their plans, and then were scheming (against Joseph).

(Prophet!) this (narrative) is a part of the important news of the hidden realities which We reveal to you. You were not present with these (enemies of yours) when they agreed upon their plan (against you) and they are (still) hatching subtle plots.

That (is) from the unseen`s/hidden`s information/news, We inspire/transmit it to you, and you were not162by/near them when they all unanimously agreed their matter/affair, and (while) they are cheating/deceiving/scheming.

These are some tidings of the Hidden which We divinely reveal to you (O dear Prophet Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him); and you were not with them when they set their task and when they were scheming.

"O my Lord! Thou hast given me some dominion (power, sovereignty), and have taught me something of the interpretation of dreams and events (and sayings, stories etc.); O Thou Originator of the heavens and the earth! Thou art my patron (protector, provider and guide) in this world and the next; make me to die (or take my soul) as one who has Surrendered unto Thee (as a Muslim), and unite me with the righteous!"

This is of the news of the Ghaib (unseen) which We reveal by Inspiration to you (O Muhammad SAW). You were not (present) with them when they arranged their plan together, and (also, while) they were plotting.

My Lord, Thou has given me of the kingdom and taught me of the interpretation of sayings. Originator of the heavens and the earth, Thou art my Friend in this world and the Hereafter. Make me die in submission and join me with the righteous.

This is of the announcements relating to the unseen (which) We reveal to you, and you were not with them when they resolved upon their affair, and they were devising plans.

This is of the tidings of the Unseen which We inspire in thee (Muhammad). Thou wast not present with them when they fixed their plan and they were scheming.

This is some of the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, (Muhammad). You were not with them when Joseph's brothers agreed on devising their evil plans.

That is of the news We reveal to you of the unseen. You were not present when they agreed upon their plan, scheming.

That is of the news of the Ghayb (Unseen) which We reveal to you. You were not (present) with them when they arranged their plan together, and (while) they were plotting.

These are tidings of the unseen that We reveal to you, [O Prophet], though you were not present with them when they plotted and agreed upon a plan.

This is news from the past that We reveal to you. You were not present with them when they plotted and agreed on a plan.

That, which is mentioned of the matter of Joseph, is of the tidings, the tales, of the Unseen, what has been hidden from you O Muhammad (s), which We reveal to you; for you were not with them, with Joseph's brothers, when they agreed upon their plan, to plot against him, that is, [when] they resolved upon it, and schemed, against him; in other words, you were not present among them to know their story and so tell it to others; knowledge of it has come to you through revelation.

This Story is a Revelation from Allah

Allah says;

ذَلِكَ مِنْ أَنبَاء الْغَيْبِ نُوحِيهِ إِلَيْكَ

That is of the news of the Ghayb (Unseen) which We reveal to you.

Allah narrated to Muhammad, peace be upon him, the story of Yusuf and his brothers and how Allah raised him over them, giving him the better end, triumph, the sovereignty and wisdom (i.e., Prophethood), even though they tried to harm and kill him.

Allah said, `This and similar stories are part of the unseen incidents of the past, O Muhammad,
نُوحِيهِ إِلَيْكَ
(which We reveal to you) and inform you of, O Muhammad, because it carries a lesson, for you to draw from and a reminder to those who defy you.'

Allah said next,

وَمَا كُنتَ لَدَيْهِمْ

`You were not (present) with them,

you did not witness their conference nor saw them,

إِذْ أَجْمَعُواْ أَمْرَهُمْ

when they arranged their plan together,

to throw Yusuf into the well,

وَهُمْ يَمْكُرُونَ



and (while) they were plotting.

against him. We taught you all this through Our Revelation which We sent down to you.'

Allah said in other Ayat,

وَمَا كُنتَ لَدَيْهِمْ إِذْ يُلْقُون أَقْلَـمَهُمْ

You were not with them, when they cast lots with their pens.

and,

وَمَا كُنتَ بِجَانِبِ الْغَرْبِىِّ إِذْ قَضَيْنَأ إِلَى مُوسَى الاٌّمْرَ

And you were not on the western side, when We made clear to Musa the commandment... (28;44) until,

وَمَا كُنْتَ بِجَانِبِ الطُّورِ إِذْ نَادَيْنَا

And you were not at the side of the Tur when We did call. (28;46)

Allah also said,

وَمَا كُنتَ ثَاوِياً فِى أَهْلِ مَدْيَنَ تَتْلُو عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَـتِنَا

And you were not a dweller among the people of Madyan, reciting Our verses to them. (28;45)

Allah states that Muhammad is His Messenger and that He has taught him the news of what occurred in the past, which carry lessons for people to draw from, so that they acquire their safety in their religious affairs as well as their worldly affairs. Yet, most people did not and will not believe, so Allah said,

وَمَا أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ وَلَوْ حَرَصْتَ بِمُوْمِنِينَ
