Yunus Verse 59

Ask ˹the pagans, O  Prophet˺, “Have you seen that which Allah has sent down for you as a provision, of which you have made some lawful and some unlawful?”[[ This refers to {6:138}-139. ]] Say, “Has Allah given you authorization, or are you fabricating lies against Allah?”

Say [to the pagans], “What do you think about the provision that Allah has sent down to you, of which you made some unlawful and some lawful.” Say, “Has Allah given you permission or are you fabricating lies against Allah?”

Say: 'Have you considered the provision God has sent down for you, and you have made some of it unlawful, and some lawful?' Say: 'Has God given you leave, or do you forge against God?'

Say, ‘Think about the provision God has sent down for you, some of which you have made unlawful and some lawful.’ Say, ‘Has God given you permission [to do this], or are you inventing lies about God?’

Say thou: bethink ye of that which Allah hath sent down unto you of provision, and ye have then made thereof allowable and forbidden? Say thou: is it that Allah hath given you leave, or fabricate ye a lie against Allah?

Say; "See ye what things Allah hath sent down to you for sustenance? Yet ye hold forbidden some things thereof and (some things) lawful." Say; "Hath Allah indeed permitted you, or do ye invent (things) to attribute to Allah?"

Did you consider that the sustenance which Allah had sent down for you of your own accord you have declared some of it as unlawful and some as lawful? Ask them: 'Did Allah bestow upon you any authority for this or do you forge lies against Allah?

Say: "Have you thought of what God has sent you for food, of which you have labelled some as lawful and some forbidden?" And ask: "Has God commanded this, or you are imputing lies to God?"

Say, “What is your opinion – (regarding) the sustenance that Allah has sent down for you? So you have, on your own, deemed lawful and unlawful in it!”; say, “Has Allah given you permission for it, or do you fabricate a lie against Allah?”

Say, ‘Have you regarded what Allah has sent down for you of [His] provision, whereupon you have made some of it unlawful and [some] lawful?’ Say, ‘Did Allah give you the sanction [to do so], or do you fabricate a lie against Allah?’

Say: "Have you considered the provision God has sent down on you, and you have (of your own accord, at your own whim) made some of it lawful and some of it unlawful?" Say: "Has God given you leave, or do you (make laws of your own accord and) attribute to God falsely?

Say, `Have you considered that, out of the provisions Allâh has provided for you, you have classified by yourselves some as unlawful and some lawful?´ Say, `Has Allâh given you leave (to do so) or do you forge lies in the name of Allâh?´

Say: "Did you see/understand what God descended for you from provision so you made/created from it forbidden/prohibited and permitted/allowed?" Say: "Did God permit/allow for you, or on God you fabricate/cut and split?

Say, "What is your opinion - (regarding) the sustenance that Allah has sent down for you? So you have, on your own, deemed lawful and unlawful in it!"; say, "Has Allah given you permission for it, or do you fabricate a lie against Allah?"

Say, "In the grace of Allah and in His mercy let them rejoice!" It is better than that (wealth) which they hoard.

Say (O Muhammad SAW to these polytheists): "Tell me, what provision Allah has sent down to you! And you have made of it lawful and unlawful." Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Has Allah permitted you (to do so), or do you invent a lie against Allah?"

Say: In the grace of Allah and in His mercy, in that they should rejoice. It is better than that which they hoard.

Say: Tell me what Allah has sent down for you of sustenance, then you make (a part) of it unlawful and (a part) lawful. Say: Has Allah commanded you, or do you forge a lie against Allah?

Say: Have ye considered what provision Allah hath sent down for you, how ye have made of it lawful and unlawful? Hath Allah permitted you, or do ye invent a lie concerning Allah?

Ask them, "Have you considered that out of the sustenance which God has given you, you made some of it lawful and some unlawful? Did God permit you to do this or are you ascribing falsehood to Him?"

Say: 'Have you considered the provision that Allah has sent down for you, and some you have made unlawful and some lawful' Say: 'Has Allah given you His permission, or do you forge (falsehood) against Allah'

Say: "Tell me, what provision Allah has sent down to you! And you have made of it lawful and unlawful." Say: "Has Allah permitted you (to do so), or do you invent a lie against Allah"

Say, "Have you considered the provision God has sent down for you, and have you made some of it unlawful and some lawful?" Say, "Has God given you permission [to do this], or are you inventing falsehoods about God?"

Say, “Have you considered the sustenance God has sent down for you, some of which you made unlawful, and some lawful?” Say, “Did God give you permission, or do you fabricate lies and attribute them to God?”

Say; `Have you considered, inform me, what provision God has revealed, has created, for you, how you have made some of it unlawful and some lawful?', as in the case of [the camels called] al-Bahra or al-S'iba, and carrion. Say; `Has God given you permission, to make that lawful or unlawful? No! Or do you, nay [you], invent lies concerning God?', by attributing that to Him.

None can make Anything Lawful or Unlawful except Allah or Those Whom Allah has allowed to do so

Allah says;
قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُم مَّا أَنزَلَ اللّهُ لَكُم مِّن رِّزْقٍ فَجَعَلْتُم مِّنْهُ حَرَامًا وَحَلَلاً قُلْ اللّهُ أَذِنَ لَكُمْ أَمْ عَلَى اللّهِ تَفْتَرُونَ

Say;"Tell me, what provision Allah has sent down to you! And you have made of it lawful and unlawful."

Say;"Has Allah permitted you (to do so), or do you invent a lie against Allah!"

Ibn Abbas, Mujahid, Ad-Dahhak, Qatadah, Abdur-Rahman bin Zayd bin Aslam and others said;

"This Ayah was revealed to criticize the idolators for what they used to make lawful and unlawful. Like the Bahirah, Sa'ibah and Wasilah."

As Allah said;

وَجَعَلُواْ لِلَّهِ مِمَّا ذَرَأَ مِنَ الْحَرْثِ وَالاٌّنْعَامِ نَصِيباً

And they assign to Allah a share of the tilth and cattle which He has created. (6;136)

Imam Ahmad recorded a narration from Malik bin Nadlah who said,

"I came to Allah's Messenger while in filthy clothes. He said,

هَلْ لَكَ مَالٌ



Do you have wealth?

I answered, `Yes.'

He said,

مِنْ أَيِّ الْمَالِ



what kind of wealth?

I answered, `All kinds; camels, slaves, horses, sheep.'

So he said,

إِذَا اَتَاكَ اللَّهُ مَالاً فَلْيُرَ عَلَيْك

If Allah gives you wealth, then let it be seen on you.

Then he said,

هَلْ تُنْتَجُ إِبْلُكَ صِحَاحًا اذَانُهَا فَتَعْمِدَ إِلَى مُوسًى فَتَقْطَعَ اذَانَهَا فَتَقُولُ هَذِهِ بُحْرٌ وَتَشُقُّ جُلُودَهَا وَتَقُولُ هَذِهِ صُرُمٌ وَتُحَرِّمُهَا عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَى أَهْلِك

It is not that your camels are born with healthy ears, you take a knife and cut them, then say, "This is a Bahr," tear its skin, then say, `This is a Sarm," and prohibit them for yourself and your family.

I replied, `Yes.' He said,

فَإِنَّ مَا اتَاكَ اللهُ لَكَ حِلٌّ سَاعِدُ اللهِ أَشَدُّ مِنْ سَاعِدِكَ وَمُوسَى الله أَحَدُ مِنْ مُوسَاك

What Allah has given you is lawful. Allah's Forearm is stronger than your forearm, and Allah's knife is sharper then your knife."

And he mentioned the Hadith in its complete form, and the chain for this Hadith is a strong, good chain.

Allah criticized those who make lawful what Allah has made unlawful or vice verse. This is because they are based on mere desires and false opinions that are not supported with evidence or proof.

Allah then warned them with a promise of the Day of Resurrection. He asked
