وَمَا كُنْتُمْ تَسْتَتِرُوْنَ اَنْ يَّشْهَدَ عَلَيْكُمْ سَمْعُكُمْ وَلَآ اَبْصَارُكُمْ وَلَا جُلُوْدُكُمْ وَلٰكِنْ ظَنَنْتُمْ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَعْلَمُ كَثِيْرًا مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُوْنَ ( فصلت: ٢٢ )
Wa Mā Kuntum Tastatirūna 'An Yash/hada `Alaykum Sam`ukum Wa Lā 'Abşārukum Wa Lā Julūdukum Wa Lakin Žanantum 'Anna Allāha Lā Ya`lamu Kathīrāan Mimmā Ta`malūna. (Fuṣṣilat 41:22)
A. S. F. Bubenheim and N. Elyas:
Und ihr pflegtet euch nicht so zu verstecken, daß euer Gehör, eure Augen und eure Häute nicht Zeugnis gegen euch ablegten. Aber ihr meintet, daß Allah nicht viel wisse von dem, was ihr tut. ([41] Fussilat (Ausführlich dargelegt) : 22)
English Sahih:
And you were not covering [i.e., protecting] yourselves, lest your hearing testify against you or your sight or your skins, but you assumed that Allah does not know much of what you do. ([41] Fussilat : 22)
